THE MUSICAL
The Musical is based on the book Oliver Down Under: with a twist. It is the story of a young boy named Oliver who ends up as an orphan in the city of Sydney (down under), Australia. He grows up not knowing anything about where he came from, his parentage and the circumstances leading up to his birth. As a teenager he works within the hospitality industry in Sydney, and strange twists of fate eventually reunite him with his family who are based in London.
The story is complete fiction born out of an idea that surfaced after a school production of Oliver by Lionel Bart, and loosely follows the Charles Dickens novel of Oliver, but there is a twist. However, the events that preceed Oliver’s birth, his younger years and destiny are based on real life situations that could occur in any large town or city throughout the world where there is an underground community. This is a modern musical based in the present. Act One covers the period up to and just after Oliver’s Birth. During the interval a time period of 20 years passes, and then Act Two introduces Oliver, who is now age 20, and other surviving characters who have also aged 20 years, and the story continues.
